Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) more popularly known as her real title Ari Lennox is an American musician and singer who hails from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist affiliated with J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. The first album she released on the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she began gaining recognition. Her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her songs online in 2012, when she dropped her Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014 she continued to upload her music via the internet including her independently release single Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as from Sweat It Out, July 21st, 2015. The following year, her music circulated all over the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some references for Rihanna. On December 8 that she was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track she recorded alongside Cozz for The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. In October 21, 2016, she released her debut EP called Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performer for J. Cole on his track Change in 2017. She also performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. She also appeared in 2018 on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video to accompany it was also released on September 5th. Her second single, Grampa on November 9. She then released on November 13 two new singles called One and Pedigree. One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single the 26th of February, 2019, for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby performed along with Cole on her Creed II sound track on November 16. In February, her music video to this song was released. The song has received more than 3 million YouTube views in just one week. In December of 2018 she performed on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
